About Cooperative Inventory Service
December 2, 1976, Bloomfield New Jersey, six acquaintances, all knowledgeable in the retail inventory field, attended a social function. From the conversation of that evening, Cooperative Inventory Service
was conceived. The six of us united as to what the word "Cooperative" was going to stand for. It would stand for giving our clients a personal professional service, results with integrity. It would stand for treating our employees with respect, as family, as friends. With these ethics, Cooperative Inventory Service
began operations on July 1, 1977
and has continued on to the present day.
After beginning with a small staff inventorying smaller retail stores, we slowly increased our clientele in terms of the number of accounts and size of stores. We did this only when we had hired and trained staff to accommodate our workload appropriately. By the early 1980's we were servicing large home center stores as well as supermarket super stores and drug store chains, and had become a leading regional inventory provider. Cooperative Inventory Service has stayed with the times. Starting out with the pad and pencil method, moving on to tape recordings, then to handheld calculators and handheld computer terminals for scan inventories.
Cooperative Inventory Service specializes in retail physical inventories. Large stores and small stores, chains, independents, and warehouses, you will receive the type of service that you deserve and should expect. We consider each account, each store, and each inventory very crucial. Not being a nationwide inventory service with thousands of accounts, our efforts directly correlate with our existence. I take pride in telling you that we are about to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
